Ingredients:

• 1 lb yautía (taro root)
• 1 lb green bananas
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 medium onion, finely chopped
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tsp adobo seasoning
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Peel and grate the yautía and green bananas into separate bowls.
2. Squeeze out excess liquid from the grated yautía using a clean kitchen towel.
3. In a large bowl, mix together the grated yautía, green bananas, ground beef, onion, garlic, adobo seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
4. Take a spoonful of the mixture, form it into a ball, and flatten it slightly to make a patty.
5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
6. Fry the alcapurrias in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
7. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
8. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious Puerto Rican alcapurrias!
